Description
Pair of Chinese late Qing dynasty Guangxu period joss stick holders in the form of two grimacing Buddhist lion dogs, each crouching on a plinth covered overall in a green glaze. A hole behind the top of the head is used to hold a stick of incense. 6" to 6 1/4" each. Late 19th century. Very good overall condition with a few tiny losses to the glaze and typical minor production imperfections. From the private collection of a former American expatriate to Guangzhou in 1983-1984.
